Drama - I Am Legend

Genre: Music, Romance, Drama
Episodes: 16
Network: SBS
Broadcasted: August 2 - September 21, 2010
Lead Actors: Kim Jung Eun, Lee Jun Hyuk, Kim Seung Su

My Rating: ♥♥♥.5/5

Ok so no. There are no vampires. It doesn't take place in New York and there is no Will Smith. Let's get this straight from the start. It has absolutely no affiliation to the movie, it literally translates to I Am Legend.

I particularly liked this drama because it didn't follow the typical pretty boy/girl love story. In fact, there's not really much of the typical romance. I think the theme of older women going on to find a dream in their 30's is a recurring and often looked down upon thing in both cultures. Older women are supposed to take care of the children and be concerned about family, not pursuing a hard to reach dream of starting up a rock band. This drama really shows the hardships and prejudices these women face in a reality that I think is not too different.

This drama also has one of the most evil mother-in-law characters I've seen. I mean, this family she married into is soooooooo evil. They are ARROGANT and complete ASSHOLES. I was surprised she didn't get a divorce sooner. They did not like her so they treated her cruelly and then when she wanted a divorce, they wouldn't give it to her! All because they said it would ruin their reputation! Arghhh! I hate that! Ugh! So it is a terrible terrible battle in and out of court for her freedom.

Basic Synopsis:Jun Seol Hee is trapped in a horrible marriage with her uncaring husband and his awful family. She can't take it anymore and decides to divorce him to get back to her roots as a rock band guitar player. But it's not so easy to divorce and go their own ways. The arrogance of his family lead the two divorcees through a terrible trial...

Superhero of Bejing

So...this is kind of old news but I haven't seen anything on the internet with a reliable information base. news about this superhero that's turned up in China. Last Christmas Eve, a masked woman nicknamed the "Rosebud Woman" showed up on the streets of Bejing, China to hand out food, clothing and even money to the needy and homeless on the streets. She has been stirring up interest with the public and even has a fan site in which she uses to talk to her growing fan base.

Not only is the Rosebud Woman running around Bejing helping the needy, she's looking good doing it! A true superhero with ample bosom to back it up. I can't find a lot of information on this woman, even the fan site eludes me, but let's take a look at some more sexy images.

K-Pop Obsession: Sunny Hill's The Grasshopper Song

I'm very excited about this weeks obsession!!! As anyone who lives with me knows, I've been super annoying, making sure everyone has seen it. I love Sunny Hill and every music video they've done I've just been floored with. This group and their MV director really have put a lot of effort and energy into making all their music videos successful and most importantly supportive of the messages in their songs.

The Grasshopper Song uses Aesop's tale of "The Grasshopper and Ant" to shake up people and get them to think about their lives. Life can't be all work or all play. You need to find a balance to ensure your life is a happy and full-filling one! Great job Sunny Hill! The video is awesome, the song is awesome, the costumes are awesome, and the dance is awesome!!! Ling-a-ling-a-ling (it's supposed to be ring-a-ring-a-ring)!

Here is the translation of what the narrator is saying in the beginning:

Grasshopper and ants are famous bugs we know.
We all know the tale of the "Grasshopper and Ant" very well.
Here is the Ant.
He receives many awards and thoroughly prepares supplies.
Ah, the sound of someone leaving.
There is the Grasshopper, that is the problem.
This seems to be the scene where the lonely Grasshopper leaves.
It's state looks bad.
Some ants are making a fuss.
The feeling is different from the story we know.
She's got to beg or die of starvation.
She will be dead, indeed?
Really, she has to beg today or die tomorrow.
Here is the Grasshopper, she has something to tell us.

Happy Lunar New Year!!!

Wow, it's already Year of the Dragon! For those of you who don't know Lunar New Year is determined by the lunisolar calendar used in countries that have adopted Confucian and Buddhism. The day is generally determined by the first full moon of the regular(?) New Year. Did you get your red packets filled with money?! I sure did! Let's take a look at the Year of the Dragon:

2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964, 1952

"The dragon epitomizes the yang (male/warm) energy. Those with the dragon as their animal sign are lively people who are straight to the point, proud, full of enthusiasm and have great passion for life. They are dynamic and stand out in a crowd as they are flamboyant and tend to leave a blazing trail behind them, igniting passion in some, but also scorching others who fall to ride the wave with them. Dragons are also profoundly loyal to family and friends and think nothing of laying their lives down to protect their brood. Although sincere and honest, dragons are known to act first, think later, and suffer in leisure."

Some people who were Dragons: Bruce Lee, Joan of Arc, John Lennon, Salvador Dalí

Let's have fun this year! Fighting!

Happy Lunar New Years!!! Yay!

So this was one of the longer and complicated dramas I've seen so far. It also has one of the most evil stepmother character I've ever seen! I mean, she kicks out her stepdaughter and her autistic brother out onto the street when their only family dies! Who the eff does that?! Anyways, the story line is so complicated and twisted I'm not even going to try to explain. What you need to know is there is an EVIL stepmother, not exactly evil stepsister, father faking his death, spoiled brat guy, and a rich grandmother who has a horrible money grubbing family. I mean that family is horrible, I would not leave them a dime.

Of course, I love Lee Seung Ki because he looks like my younger brother...

Basic Synopsis:Go Eun Seung is a hot tempered girl who comes home from studying abroad to visit her father, brother and extended family. She gets her luggage mixed up with the spoiled rich boy, Sun Woo Hwang, that leads to complications and heated fights. This is when Go Eun Seung's father is mistakingly pronounced dead and her evil step mother kicks out her and her autistic brother out onto the streets...
